Gavin Fleming is a commercial litigator and family law practitioner. His commercial litigation experience includes litigating breach of contract, business tort, employment law, landlord-tenant, misappropriation of trade secrets, securities, and zoning matters before state and federal courts throughout Michigan and Illinois. Mr. Fleming also devotes a portion of his practice to appellate work at the state and federal level.  

As the head of Beals Hubbard, PLC's Family Law Practice Group, Mr. Fleming also counsels clients involved in matrimonial disputes.  Mr. Fleming has experience in divorce, child custody, and other matrimonial matters with a special focus on assisting business owners or their spouses in resolution of complex asset cases.   Mr. Fleming, in conjunction with Michael Beals, also assists clients in crafting both pre-nuptual and anti-nuptual agreements, and drafting corporate resolutions, buy-sell agreements, and succession plans related to marriage or divorce.

Mr. Fleming graduated from the University of Michigan Law School cum laude in 2003, receiving the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy; he graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2000 with high distinction and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Representative Matters

  • In a breach of contract action arising from the sale of a business, obtained a highly favorable settlement on behalf of the buyer-defendant, reducing the buyer's seven figure obligation to the seller by approximately seventy percent.
  • In a claim and delivery action arising from the use of a crumb rubber producing machine, obtained a high six figure settlement on behalf of the plaintiff.
  • In an Accountant Malpractice action, assisted John Hubbard in acheiving a seven figure settlement in favor of the Firm's clients.
  • In a Takings case, argued before the Michigan Court of Appeals and Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Numerous local counsel engagements for large law firms seeking counseling in Michigan.
  • Numerous engagements for customers, brokers, and broker-dealers in actions before the Financial Industry regulatory Authority.
  • Child custody matters involving pareting time, custody changes, and school choice issues.
  • Divorce matters from inception to judgment.
